Zimmer Spine Anterior Approach Workshop

1st – 2nd February 2007, Paris - France

This Zimmer Institute™ workshop offered an excellent opportunity for health care professionals to learn more about the Anterior Approach in Spine and the Zimmer Spine anterior lumbar product range.

The three instructors, Dr. Poffyn, Dr. Peuskens and Dr. Schroë created a professional and enthusiastic atmosphere not only during the presentation and round-table discussions in the morning, but also at the specimen workshop.

Participants were able to take away with them both a good understanding of the anterior approach and the surgical technique of the various Zimmer Spine anterior lumbar products. They learnt how the Trabecular MetalTM Technology ALIF Device, now widely accepted, can be used in conjunction with the new Trinica®  Anterior Lumbar Plate. The PEEK-OPTIMA® Spacer HRC Locking CageTM ALIF was demonstrated and was well perceived for its straight-forward philosophy with the locking mechanism.  The surgeons were pleasantly surprised as to how easy, accurately and quickly the new Dynardi® Artificial Disc can be implanted.

The goal of the training course to give each participant sufficient time to perform the anterior approach and to test all our products as extensively as they wished, was achieved.

Evidence of the workshop’s value was that everybody worked hard until the very last moment. Indeed participants commented that they were very pleased to be able to perform anterior approaches in a more structured way.  All the surgeons said that they would certainly encourage their colleagues to get on to the next available Zimmer Spine Anterior Approach Workshop.
